TIM’S Story

My passion for AV and Technology started over 20 years ago while helping out a theater friend in College.  Before I knew it, I had found my calling and the work I love!  After graduating College I took a job as a tech director — setting up, tearing down, and mixing 4 days a week along with some nights and weekends with bands in clubs.  A couple of years with a rental and staging company helped refine my chops on the console while introducing me to the world of design and installation.

Three years with an AV Design/Build contractor convinced me that the design side of the business was what I was most interested in.  Since that time (more years than I might like to admit!) I’ve been working as a full-time designer and consultant.  I love the challenges that each new system and design presents and I look forward to helping you with using AV and technology to better your communications!

TIM’S Story

I’ve been fascinated with AV ever since my older brother figured out how to wire a tape recorder to our home radio.  The difference in the quality of our recordings was mind-blowing, and I wanted to know how it all worked.

My curiousity quickly turned into an obsession, and over time I’ve experienced the joys and struggles of every step of the AV process first-hand.  It’s that hands-on experience that I rely on to create clean, refined AV system designs for our clients.

The most exciting thing for me about working at Hamilton AV Design is the attention and care this company gives to the details.  There’s plenty of companies with quippy mottos and slogans about creativity and attention to detail, but in working alongside this company previously, I can confidently say that Hamilton AV genuinely lives the details.

Whatever your AV needs are, we’re your puzzle-solvers.

ADAM’S Story

I first took an interest in AV and Technology over 10 years ago as a sound board operator for my church’s Sunday school programs.  It wasn’t long before I was hooked on live mixing, and I kept making time to continue mixing in small venues throughout high school and college.

In my senior year of college, I had the opportunity to enlist in the class of Semester 31 at the Contemporary Music Center in Nashville.  There, I studied both live and studio engineering and worked as the Systems Tech on a week-long tour through southeast America.

After graduating, I continued pursuing what was now a passion, working as the AVL Worship Coordinator of a 600+ member church in Grand Rapids for a few years.  I met Tim in that time (he was hired by the church to redo their sound system!), and I soon began working for Tim part-time, becoming a full-time junior consultant within the year.

My passion for AV technology now serves to refine the simple and effective systems that our end-users love to operate. I look forward to helping you create the AV system that fits your needs!

With over 30 years in the lighting industry and nearly 15 years as a sound designer in theater and concert production, I’ve got a passion for the arts. My time in the industry includes over 250 concerts and 50+ theatre events from high school to professional productions.

I’ve has had the privilege to design sound and lighting for dozens of productions, including two first-run shows (Ruth, When Calls the Heart; Galloway/Landrum Productions) for Cornerstone University.

I also had the distinct honor of designing lighting for the ArtPrize 2009 4th place entry “Grand Dance” by David Lubbers and the 2003 “Dead Sea Scrolls” traveling exhibit at the Van Andel Museum Center in MI.

I’m a member of numerous industry societies, including USITT; I’m Lighting Certified with NCQLP and NALMCO; and I’ve taught at the collegiate level.

When I’m not designing AV solutions, you can find me at home. I’ve been married for 26 years and have two teenage children.
