Plainwell Community Schools’ Vision
In 2019, Plainwell Community Schools passed a $48 million bond to upgrade district facilities. One of the final projects funded was a new $26 million field house built to serve both student athletics and broader community use. Located across from the high school and adjacent to the middle school, the facility includes an 11-lane pool with a diving well and a competition gymnasium.
HAV. Design was brought in by GMB Architecture + Engineering to provide audio-visual systems that would be simple to operate and reliable in a high-use, multi-sport environment.
Key system features:
- QSC loudspeakers for gym bleachers, courts, pool deck, and seating areas
- Danley subwoofers and Powersoft amplifiers for full-range performance
- Ceiling speakers in hallways, concessions, hospitality areas, and restrooms
- Multiple mic and mixer input locations
- Bluetooth audio connectivity and wireless microphones
- Touchpanel control for intuitive, day-to-day use
- Stationary and portable equipment racks
- AV network switches for centralized control
Completed in 2025, this upgrade expands what’s possible at Plainwell, allowing simultaneous use of the gym and pool, more scheduling flexibility, and open hours for community members. HAV Design’s AV systems are built to match that versatility.
