Hudsonville High School’s Major Upgrade: Enhancing Spaces with State-of-the-Art AV Systems
Hudsonville Public Schools recently undertook a significant renovation and addition project for their high school, enhancing several key areas within the facility. This ambitious project included upgrades to the large cafeteria space, the wrestling room, and the addition of a competition gym and weight room.
Collaborative Efforts for Seamless Integration
Partnering with their long-term architectural partner, GMB, and their chosen AV design consultant, HAV Design, Hudsonville Public Schools aimed to create a cohesive and user-friendly audio and video system across all the new and renovated spaces. Consistency and simplicity of use were the primary goals for the AV systems throughout the school.
The Impressive Four-Sided LED Scoreboard
One of the standout features of the new competition gym is the four-sided LED scoreboard. After reviewing several design options, the school district selected a scoreboard capable of being raised and lowered from the middle of the gym to the floor. This versatile scoreboard serves multiple purposes, including scoring for high school sporting events and displaying content for events such as graduation. Additionally, HAV Design customized the bottom of the scoreboard to include spotlights for wrestling events, creating a dramatic effect by highlighting the center wrestling mat.
The scoreboard system is integrated with the LED light fixtures throughout the gym, allowing for synchronized control of room lighting and the scoreboard’s spotlights, enhancing the overall experience for spectators and participants alike.
Cutting-Edge Audio and Video Systems
The new weight room is equipped with multiple displays and loudspeakers, including subwoofers, providing a robust and high-quality audio system. Students can enjoy loud, clear sound when they want to turn up the volume during workouts.
In the cafeteria, projectors and screens, along with distributed loudspeakers, enable the display of audio and video content during lunch and for presentations before and after school. The wrestling room features a simple yet effective audio system, allowing the team to listen to music and the coach to communicate clearly using a wireless microphone during practice sessions.
Quality and Flexibility with QSC Products
QSC products play a significant role in the AV systems throughout high school. Main speakers in the competition gym, processors in various rooms, and amplifiers are all manufactured by QSC. This integration ensures that audio and video content can be efficiently moved around each space. Touchscreens in the cafeteria, weight room, and competition gym provide easy control of the systems, offering long-term flexibility and the ability to modify controls as needed in the future.
A Bright Future for Hudsonville High School
The new spaces and state-of-the-art AV systems have been met with enthusiasm by the district. The high-quality, flexible design will allow Hudsonville Public Schools to enjoy these upgraded spaces for many years to come. The seamless integration of technology enhances the overall experience for students, staff, and the community, marking a significant step forward for Hudsonville High School.
