Upgrading a Legacy

Gannon University’s Hammermill Center has been a cornerstone of its athletic programs for a century, and now, it’s been revitalized for the future. Completed in 2025, the renovation brought modern technology to the historic venue while preserving its rich legacy. The $10 million project was a joint effort between HAV Design and The Collaborative, with a focus on enhancing the center’s audio-visual systems. These upgrades ensure that both athletes and spectators enjoy a top-tier experience, solidifying the Hammermill Center as a premier sports venue in Erie, Pennsylvania.

Cutting-Edge Upgrades

A standout feature of the renovation is the upgraded sound system, which now includes eight high-powered loudspeakers and two large subwoofers, delivering crisp and powerful audio throughout the gymnasium. The locker rooms also received a major AV upgrade, giving teams access to advanced technology for strategy and communication. Digital mixing consoles with eight and sixteen faders provide flexibility for different events, while an Assistive Listening System (ALS) improves accessibility, making the space more inclusive for all attendees.

A Commitment to the Future

This renovation is about more than just new technology—it’s a reflection of Gannon University’s commitment to providing top-quality facilities for its students and athletes. By blending HAV Design’s expertise with the center’s historic character, the project maintains the venue’s legacy while ensuring it meets modern standards. As Gannon continues to grow, these upgrades reinforce its dedication to innovation, community engagement, and excellence in athletics.
