A Long-Needed “Fourth Place”
Mayor Greg Wright calls the newly constructed Toyota Indiana YMCA a long-needed “fourth place” for youth and seniors. HAV Design was proud to collaborate with Hafer Associates to deliver AV solutions that support the YMCA’s mission of wellness, learning, and community.
After years of planning beginning in 2004, the finished facility—including a lap pool, gym, fitness center, teaching kitchen, and STEM lab—was made possible by $5 million in state funding from Indiana’s READI initiative. The project came together to address local health concerns and provide a vital community space.
HAV Design played an important role in this community project by implementing comprehensive audio-visual systems across several key spaces, including the aquatic center, gymnasium, learning kitchen, and wellness areas.
Aquatic Center
The pool area now features a distributed audio system with 11 RCF loudspeakers providing full coverage, plus additional QSC ceiling speakers in hallways, locker rooms, and the lobby.
A new rack in the Pool Director’s Office houses amplification and processing, with multiple input options—including Bluetooth, aux, and mic connections—available at the scorer’s desk, pool deck, and Meet Management Room. A simple Atlas volume controller allows easy management of all audio sources.
Gymnasium
Twelve RCF loudspeakers were installed to provide clear, consistent coverage for games and events. The system can receive audio feeds from the pool when needed, and user control is provided through an Atlas wall-mounted panel with Bluetooth, aux, and mic inputs.
Learning Kitchen
Designed to support demonstrations and instruction, the Learning Kitchen includes four QSC ceiling speakers, three Extron video displays, and two Marshall overhead cameras for live content viewing. A central rack manages all audio and video switching, while instructors can control inputs and volume from a simple wall panel. HDMI and wireless presentation options add maximum flexibility.
Group Exercise & Wellness Spaces
Audio systems were installed to support fitness classes and community programs. These rooms feature QSC and RCF loudspeakers, Shure wireless microphones, and Atlas volume control panels for simple, reliable use.
Distributed Video & Portable Display
HDMI plates were installed in multiple rooms to support future owner-furnished displays. A mobile AV cart with HDMI and wireless presentation capabilities was also included, allowing flexible content delivery throughout the facility.
